Anesthesia Malpractice Prevention

Negligence inanesthesia administration can lead to personal injury andmalpractice. Many patients don't wake up after surgery because of

negligent anesthesia care. Anesthesia malpractice cases can be avoided by following

proper anesthesia care anesthesia group

Before theoperation

Pre-anesthesia careinvolves the evaluation of the patient, confirmation of pre-operative data andrecording the operative plans. Complete personal information should be

recorded for all participants in the procedure. This includes the nurses,

anesthetics anesthesiologists as well surgeons and their assistants. The

final patient assessment for anesthesia tolerance must be completed before the

operation can proceed .

During theoperation

Before you begin theoperation, make sure that your patient is properly placed with correctintravenous lines. The proper setup of monitoring equipment such as

electrocardiograms (ECG), automatic pressure cuffs, and oximetry should be

done. Anesthesia staff are responsible for administering medications,

oxygen, and managing other fluids. Staff should monitor and evaluate all

operative activities including blood loss and urine output.

The entireoperation's information is compressed into an organized record. It shouldinclude charts for vital signs, fluids, drugs, and numerous data blocks. Simple

notes can also be included for important events. These data should not be

taken for granted, as they can be inspected for future and ongoing operations.

The patient shouldbe discharged from the operating area to the recovery room only if he is stableand conscious.

After the operation

If the operationgoes well, the patient will be transferred to the post-anesthesia unit (PACU),under the supervision and care of the anesthesia team. Patients should be

monitored and evaluated by nurses and other health professionals from the

department at all times. After sufficient observation, the patient may be

discharged from the unit to either another hospital or the hospital. The

nurse staff should inform the anesthesiologist about the patient's condition so

that he can ensure the success of the operation.
